Inventor of the modern wood floor

In 1941, Kährs was granted a patent for a multi-layer wood flooring construction. Today, more than 80 years later, this is still the standard construction for the majority of the engineered hardwood floors in the world.

We combine the natural appearance of the wood with our own design and through processing, color and surface treatment we add different dimensions and looks to the wood floors. This allows us to offer a wide selection of wood floors to form the basis for all types of interiors and interior styles.

A pioneer in PVC-free flooring

The first PVC-free floor was launched already in 2004 by Upofloor, which today is a part of Kährs. Since then, we have continued to develop the PVC-free products aiming to continuously increase the range of well-designed, technologically advanced and sustainable flooring.

Kährs (previously Upofloor) has also been a leading quartz tile manufacturer for 70 years, providing uniquely designed flooring to many types of commercial installations.
